The Matthews: oh christmas tree

I say this with a little sarcasm because of our trip to the tree farm this weekend. As most of you know, it was POURING rain on Saturday, and freezing cold. But we always go get our tree the first weekend in December, so we ventured out. It was a disastrous, but funny day. The tree farm is about a 20 minute drive, and on the way there Carter fell asleep. Well, we go to get him out of the carseat, and he's wet his pants! Did we bring extra pants?...Of course not! We had extra underwear, and were not about to turn around and go home, so we improvised. We had brought Adelynn's leggings. Yep, they're pink. But we put those, and a fresh pair of undies on Carter, then topped it off with his army rain boots. What a sight! Luckily, Stuart had brought an extra coat, so that went on Carter to cover up his girl-colored legs. This was the full ensemble.

It was actually a good thing he had that extra coat on. It was so cold, but Carter was all cozy in his little coat cave. Stuart had to rig it so Carter didn't keep stepping on the bottom and tripping over himself. But Carter had his own way to fix that problem; he would run along with his arms up in the air to keep the coat off the ground. It was hilarious to watch. Everyone thought he looked so cute, and the lady at the register had to take his picture. We then got on the little covered train to ride out to the trees.

After I took this picture, we turned a corner and all the water from the roof spilled right down Stuart's pants! Just icing on the cake at this point!
When we got off the train, we found the first tree that looked good enough to go in our living room and Stuart cut it down. I think the picking-out/cutting process took a total of 2 minutes. We pretty much just raced back to the car after our little adventure. But the Matthews 2007 trip to the tree farm will go down in the books for sure! Here are some other shots we managed to get.
