On Saturday morning, we headed up to Devils Tower. Fun fact: it was America's first national monument. It's only about an hour away, and guess what we came across on the drive over? Trees! There are no trees here in Gillette, and when driving along the highway there was suddenly a line of trees and then you're going through a rock forest of sorts. It was weird though, that the trees just started all at a certain point. Side note: we saw an ad on the side of the road for a nearby campground that advertised it had over 200 shade trees. Never in Oregon would you have to advertise that trees are around - we were laughing.
Anyway, we stopped at a viewpoint:
We saw a ton of these right before getting to the tower.
And here's the view from where you park.
We took the trail that goes around the base of devils tower, which has a lot of boulders. Carter was obsessed with climbing all the big ones, and jumping off.
Which means that Addie was too

So you finally made it...I hope it all goes well, I know you will do great where ever you are. I spent a little time in Gillete with a certain boyfriend I won't name...there is a great place to go camping called Key Hole State Park. It was a lot of fun.
